Bietigheim-Bissingen Transportation Development Plan
- Owner City of Bietigheim-Bissingen
- Project Period since 04/2014
The Transportation Development Plan 2030 for the city of Bietigheim-Bissingen puts great emphasis on multi-modality, so that in addition to motorized private transportation mode, public transport as well as cyclists and pedestrians are considered.
In order to build the current Transportation Development Plan on solid grounds, an extensive set of surveys were conducted: Road-side interviews, traffic movement counts (per Video), passenger counts in city buses and -on-board surveys and a telephone survey (life style and revealed preferences research) in addition to a written household survey.
In light of the gathered data and information, it is possible to develop a sustainable inter-modal global mobility concept for the city of Bietigheim-Bissingen, which strengthens public transportation, promotes the switch from motorized private transportation to alternative means of transportation and improves inter-modality. To this end, in addition to car sharing and call-a-bike systems, more innovative and pioneering ideas are developed.
During the planning process – and in addition to the city administration – the municipal council, as well as various working groups and the broader public are included. In addition to presentations in front of committees and working groups, public information events are part and parcel of the planning process.
