Traffic Impact Study for Höchstadt an der Aisch City Bypass
- Owner State Public Works Authority, Nuremberg
- Project period 07/2012 - 11/2012
Using a digital traffic model, the impacts of alternative bypass roads were examined and evaluated in accordance with the “Guideline for Integrated Network Design” (RIN 2008). The model was used to generate the indicators required for the evaluation. Based on available data, the model was constructed to include all relevant major and minor roads. The evaluation also took into account various elements such as reducing through traffic, reconstructing bridges and improving traffic flows. The individual elements were merged into an overall road network structure concept based on the recommendations of RIN. This brought together effective and well dimensioned individual measures into one meaningful package. When comparing the alternatives, the aspects of transport and cost-effectiveness were compared and weighed in terms of advantages and disadvantages.
